Each Friday one of the students will be able to take Long Sock Silver home with him/her for the weekend! Your child can take him with him/her when you go places and play with him at home. Long Sock Silver comes home with a journal to fill out using illustrations, pictures/photographs, and words! We cannot wait to see the adventures your family has with our pirate sock monkey! We hope this activity helps us continue to create a strong connection between home and school. Arrrgh!
Did your child come home telling you about the pirate sock monkey who ran away and didn't follow the rules? Well, that is Long Sock Silver! He can be seen above with another sock monkey he met at my house! He helped us learn the class rules last week because he kept running away and the students had to teach him how to behave at school and in the classroom. I told the students they would each have a turn to take him home for the weekend. I took him home first this past weekend to make sure he was good pirate monkey, and he definitely was! He loved playing with my little girl, so I know he will enjoy going home throughout the year with each of the students! We can't wait to hear about what YOU do with him over the weekend! Will he go with you to the grocery store? Out to dinner? To church? Will he watch movies and eat popcorn? Whatever happens we hope to see pictures, illustrations, and writing to tell us about your adventures!
