Center time is usually a favorite time of day for students! They LOVE centers! I wanted to explain to you how our centers work from day to day.
Each day the students rotate through one of the centers in our class. We have iPads, computers (ABC Mouse), 3 table centers, and a free center group. The 3 table centers change each week, you can see pictures and descriptions below of our current ones from this week. Right now the free center choices are: housekeeping, blocks, drawing/writing, tabletoys, and reading.
During this time there is also a snack center that students rotate through to have their daily snack!
The other major component of this time is guided reading! This is when Mrs. Dawson and I pull the students to work with them in small groups on their literacy development!
We get so much done during this time, and I just wanted you to know what we do! At home to help extend this time of our school day you could ask your child the following questions: 1) What center did you go to today? 2) What did you do there? 3) What book or activity did you do at Mrs. Thompson's or Mrs. Dawson's table? 4) What was for snack? 5) Who did you play with?
All of those questions help start conversations about the learning happening in our class!
