We had the absolute BEST time on our field study to the farm!
This was a wonderful chance for the students to utilize their five senses we have been learning about in science to discover all kinds of amazing things at the farm. This trip gives the students an authentic learning experience with the plant life cycle, past and present, and properties of matter. The pumpkin patch provides a great up close look at the life cycle of a plant! The students were even able to see a green pumpkin growing on the vine! The horse drawn hayride and blacksmithing demonstration also give the students a good introduction to the concept of past and present. The blacksmith also helps the students start thinking about properties of matter (i.e. how the metal was able to bend when it got hot, why it doesn't bend when it is cold, what would happen if the horseshoe was made out of wood or paper instead of metal, etc.)
We loved every second of it! Check out the pictures and videos below to see what a great learning experience this was!
Thank you again to all of our chaperones!
