We had the absolute BEST time on our field study to the farm! This was a wonderful chance for the students to utilize their five senses we have been learning about in science to discover all kinds of amazing things at the farm. This trip gives the students an authentic learning experience with the plant life cycle, past and present, and properties of matter. The pumpkin patch provides a great up close look at the life cycle of a plant! The students were even able to see a green pumpkin growing on the vine! The horse drawn hayride and blacksmithing demonstration also give the students a good introduction to the concept of past and present. The blacksmith also helps the students start thinking about properties of matter (i.e. how the metal was able to bend when it got hot, why it doesn't bend when it is cold, what would happen if the horseshoe was made out of wood or paper instead of metal, etc.) We loved every second of it! Check out the pictures and videos below to see what a great learning experience this was! Thank you again to all of our chaperones!
We have been singing the song "Five Little Pumpkins" to practice retelling stories and also to work on the positions 1st-5th. The students love this song so much!
We even have a book in the reading center that goes along with the song as well as a flannel board with 5 pumpkins to re-tell the story. Check out Kylie and Markayla below as they tell the story in the reading center! Thank you SO much for all of your hardwork and support with this fundraiser. Our class pre-sold the most tickets for this event in the ENTIRE school! 19 tickets! That is amazing! All of the funds raised go directly to our school and help the teachers and students get new classroom learning materials. Events like this would not be possible without the amazing support of parents, grandparents, and entire families! Events like these also teach our students about helping others and supporting our community. The event itself was a ton of fun! I loved taking orders for some of you and just visiting during breakfast. Check out the pictures below to see what an awesome time we had. We had our final big 5 senses taste test today! We had rice crispies and milk, and we used all 5 of our senses to enjoy this tasty snack! Check out the pictures below to see how we used all 5 of the senses in science today! We have been learning all about our 5 Senses in Science! Today we had a taste test with four different things to see how our tongue is able to tell our brain how different things taste. Check out our reactions below! What a great experiment! Ask your child which was his/her favorite to taste? Also, what other senses did we use during this experiment? Here is a great activity from ABCya that you can do together at home to learn about the 5 senses! The Five Senses
